Frederic Leighton (1830–1896), later Lord Leighton, was a British painter and sculptor renowned for his classical themes and meticulous technique. As a leading figure in Victorian Academic art, Leighton blended elements of Neoclassicism and Romanticism, often depicting idealized figures from mythology and history. His masterpiece, Flaming June, is celebrated for its vibrant color and graceful composition. Leighton’s work was marked by its precision, elegance, and attention to detail, especially in the depiction of drapery and the human form. He was the first artist to be granted peerage in Britain, reflecting his significant influence on 19th-century British art.
