Cesare Agostino Detti (1847–1914) was an Italian painter known for his romanticized historical and genre scenes, often set in the 17th and 18th centuries. Born in Spoleto, Italy, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia before moving to France, where he became associated with the Parisian art scene. Detti’s richly detailed works, characterized by vibrant colors and meticulous costume accuracy, gained popularity with collectors across Europe and America. He exhibited at the Paris Salon and was influenced by both academic and realist styles. Detti spent much of his life in France, where he died in 1914.
