William Holman Hunt (1827-1910) was a British painter and one of the founding members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, an art movement that sought to return to the detail, intense colors, and complex compositions of early Renaissance art. Hunt’s works are known for their vivid detail, symbolism, and moral and religious themes. Among his most famous paintings are “The Light of the World” and “The Awakening Conscience,” which explore themes of redemption and spiritual awakening. Hunt traveled extensively in the Middle East, incorporating his experiences into his art. His dedication to truth and realism had a lasting influence on Victorian art.
