Tom Roberts (1856 – 1931) was a prominent Australian artist and a leading figure of the Heidelberg School, also known as Australian Impressionism. He was born in Melbourne and studied at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School. Roberts is renowned for his landscape and plein air paintings that beautifully depict rural and coastal scenes of Australia. His works capture the unique light, landscape, and everyday life of Australians in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Roberts played a vital role in shaping Australian art and was also involved in art education and the country’s cultural development.
