I grew up surrounded by creativity. My mother studied fashion at Manchester School of Art, painting & creating was a daily occurrence in my household. She introduced me at a young age to great artist and children’s book writers such as Richard Scarry, Quentin Blake and of course the great Roald Dahl.
Around 10 years of age we moved to Africa, this was a very energetic, colorful world. I think the combination of these two forces in my life spurred me on in my creative endeavors.
In my teens I came back to Ireland and studied illustration in The College Of Marketing & Design. Here I started to find my style and my love of color. After college I worked for the UK publishing industry, my first job was illustrating a series of children’s books ‘The Twitches’ for BAFTA award winning author Roy Apps, published by Simon & Schuster. Other clients include BBC, Ritzenhoff, Ravensburger, Oxford University Press & Heinemann.
While illustrating for companies my love of product design had me producing and selling art products into shops in Dublin. I then went on to open a small shop of my own selling mugs, plates, hand painted vases, wall prints, door knobs & postcards, all with my illustrations on. Eventually, running a small shop, creating products and illustrating for publishing houses became too much work, I moved my personalized wall art range online.
I moved away for ceramic and focused on paper products. Selling personalized wall prints, height charts, door signs, wall maps from my online shop. I have successfully sold my own product range for a number of years. I sell my wall art prints within Ireland, UK, America and Europe.
I love working on new ideas and areas they I haven’t worked in before. I am, all the time, creating new art for licensing and recently have worked on animation ideas for kids. I want to create artwork and ideas that will stimulate kids and create a sense of excitement and fun.
