To Don, photography is a dance with nature. It is the immersion in a landscape and the sense of being lost in the moment, where the passing of time goes unnoticed. It is the serendipity of capturing a moment in time that becomes a timeless moment.
Don seeks to bring out the essence of his subject whether it be through a gentle softness or dramatic brilliance. He delights in shooting subjects that evoke a powerful mood and elicit an emotional response.
After retiring from a career in teaching, Don gifted himself a digital camera and a handful of lenses. During the ensuing years, he has moved from dabbling in photography to a far more focused effort to capture the magnificence of the landscape that surrounds his home and the places to which he has been fortunate enough to travel. So often he finds himself touched by the abundant beauty found in the nooks and crannies of the natural environment.
Rarely does a week pass when Don is not out in the field, exploring new locations and favorite haunts. Photography is his passion, and he feels blessed to be a witness, with camera in hand, to the splendor that surrounds him.
