Alfred Stevens (1823–1906) was a Belgian painter celebrated for his refined and elegant depictions of women in luxurious, domestic settings. A key figure in 19th-century Academic art, Stevens gained popularity in Paris, where he blended realism with a keen attention to fashion and interior design. His works often portrayed upper-class women, capturing both their beauty and the social constraints of the era. Stevens’ use of light, color, and meticulous detail brought a sense of intimacy and sophistication to his paintings. Though his fame waned in the 20th century, his contributions to Belgian and French art remain highly regarded.
