Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) was a Dutch Baroque painter and one of the most celebrated artists in history. Renowned for his mastery of light and shadow, Rembrandt created deeply emotional and realistic works, ranging from portraits and self-portraits to biblical scenes and landscapes. His most famous paintings include The Night Watch and The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. Rembrandt’s innovative use of chiaroscuro and his keen ability to capture human expression set him apart from his contemporaries. Despite facing personal and financial struggles later in life, his work profoundly influenced the course of Western art.
