Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900) was a celebrated American landscape painter and a central figure in the Hudson River School. Known for his grand, detailed depictions of natural wonders, Church’s works combined scientific precision with Romantic ideals. His masterpieces, such as The Heart of the Andes and Niagara Falls, showcased dramatic lighting and atmospheric effects, embodying the Sublime. Inspired by extensive travels to South America, the Arctic, and the Middle East, Church captured diverse landscapes with awe-inspiring scale and beauty. His home, Olana, remains a National Historic Landmark, reflecting his artistic vision and enduring legacy in American art
