Maynard Dixon was an American artist born in 1875 in Fresno, California. He is best known for his paintings of the American West during the early 20th century.
Dixon was a self-taught artist who began his career as a commercial illustrator. He later turned his attention to painting and quickly gained a reputation for his vivid depictions of the American West. His paintings often featured rugged landscapes, cowboys, Native Americans, and other iconic images of the frontier.
Dixon was a member of the Taos Society of Artists, a group of painters who settled in the artistic community of Taos, New Mexico. He spent much of his career there, painting scenes of the American West and the people who lived there.
