Julius LeBlanc Stewart (1855–1919) was an American expatriate painter renowned for his depictions of Parisian high society during the late 19th century. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Paris with his wealthy family, studying under artists such as Jean-Léon Gérôme. Known as “the Parisian of the American artists,” Stewart captured the elegance and opulence of the Belle Époque through works like The Baptism and The Hunt Ball. His meticulously detailed paintings often depicted lavish gatherings, maritime scenes, and aristocratic life, blending realism with Impressionist influences.
