Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta (1841–1920) was a Spanish realist painter renowned for his elegant portraits and genre scenes. Born in Rome into a family of distinguished artists, he trained in Madrid and later Paris, where he became a prominent figure in the international art scene. Influenced by French academic style, Madrazo masterfully depicted fashionable society, capturing refined textures, delicate light, and subtle expressions. His clientele included European aristocracy and American collectors. Though deeply rooted in tradition, his work reflects a cosmopolitan flair. Today, Madrazo is celebrated for his technical brilliance and the sophisticated charm of his finely detailed canvases.
