Edgar Samuel Paxson (1852–1919) was an American artist, primarily known for his paintings depicting historical and frontier scenes of the American West. Born in East Hamburg, New York, Paxson moved to Montana in 1877, where he became deeply immersed in the history and culture of the region.

Paxson’s artistic career was marked by his dedication to preserving and illustrating the history of the American West. He painted scenes of Native American life, explorers, fur traders, and military expeditions, contributing to the visual documentation of the frontier. His work often portrayed the challenges faced by pioneers and the interactions between settlers and Native American tribes.
