Evelyn De Morgan (1855–1919) was a British painter associated with the later phase of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Known for her spiritual, allegorical, and mythological themes, her work often featured strong female figures and conveyed deep moral and philosophical messages. Influenced by Renaissance art and the symbolism of her time, De Morgan’s style combined vibrant colors and meticulous detail. Her notable works include The Angel of Death and The Soul’s Prison House. A passionate pacifist and feminist, she used her art to express her beliefs, making her a distinctive voice in 19th-century British art.
