Karl Ferdinand Wimar was a German-American artist born in 1828 in Siegburg, Germany. He is best known for his paintings of the American West during the mid-19th century. Wimar immigrated to the United States in 1852, settling in St. Louis, Missouri. He quickly became known for his paintings of the American West, which depicted scenes of Native American life, buffalo hunts, and other frontier activities.
Wimar was a skilled painter who had a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the American West.
