Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894) was a French painter, patron, and collector closely linked with the Impressionist movement. Born into a wealthy Parisian family, he initially trained as a lawyer and engineer before turning to art. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, where his precision and interest in modern life began to shape his style.
