Richard Lorenz (1858–1915) was a renowned American artist known primarily for his landscape paintings, particularly those depicting scenes of the American West. He was born in Germany but immigrated to the United States at a young age, settling in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lorenz studied art at the McMicken School of Design (now the Art Academy of Cincinnati) and later at the Royal Academy in Munich, Germany.

Lorenz’s style was heavily influenced by the American West, and he became associated with the Rocky Mountain School of landscape painters. He traveled extensively throughout the western United States, capturing the rugged beauty of the wilderness in his paintings. His work often featured dramatic landscapes, including towering mountains, expansive plains, and winding rivers.

Lorenz was a member of several prestigious art organizations, including the Society of Western Artists and the Munich Secession. He exhibited his paintings widely and received numerous awards and accolades for his work during his lifetime.

Today, Richard Lorenz’s paintings are highly sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts, and his legacy as a prominent American landscape artist continues to endure.
